Timothy Wade Hamilton, 31 of Rome, was jailed over the weekend after he allegedly hit a 36 year-old woman in the face.
Reports said that four children were in the next room over when the attack occurred.
The incident occurred at a home on McHenry Drive.
Hamilton is charged with battery and four counts of cruelty to children.
