Mr. Jerry B. King, age 77, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, in a local hospital.

Jerry was born in Gordon County on July 3, 1940, son of the late Dallas George King and the late Nina Earle Ellis King. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and for several years, he owned and operated King’s Used Cars. He was a member of the Coosa Valley Street Rod Association. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Brenda Easterwood and Edna Earle Brown.

Survivors include his wife, the former Carole Elizabeth McCarley, to whom he was married on December 26, 1959; 2 sons, Mitch King, and his wife, Alicia, and Steve King, and his wife, Sidney, all of Rome; a daughter, Carla Boelhouwer, and her husband, Warren, Rome; 3 sisters, Betty Dutton, and her husband, Waymon, and Jo Anne Burnett, all of Plainville, and Geraldine Fowler, and her husband, Doug, Adairsville; 5 grandchildren, Jamie King, Matthew King, Stephanie Wallace, Preiss and Preston Boelhouwer; 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Ken Hinkley and the Rev. Roger Fisher will officiate. Interment will follow in Morningview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Monday, from 6pm until 8pm and on Tuesday from 12 noon until time for the service at 2pm.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel at 1:30pm on Tuesday and include: Alan Loveman, James King, Matthew King, James Hinkley, Byron McCarley, Jr., and Sammy Brown.
