Sheriff Mitch Ralston welcomed the newest member of the Sheriff’s Office staff aboard this week. Lolli, a gentle 13 month old Labrador Retriever, was on patrol for the first time today .
Lolli has been extensively trained and certified in detecting drugs and narcotics, as well as tracking. Lolli’s two handlers, Deputies David Salazar and Corey Childers, both attended an intensive training course in North Carolina to receive their own certifications as K9 officers. Lolli has been schooled in the detection of opiates, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and other illicit drugs.
She has also been trained to track on a hot or a cold trail. Here, Sheriff Ralston presents Lolli and Deputy Salazar with Lolli’s badge. Deputy Salazar said that he and Deputy Childers were both excited to have Lolli, and were looking forward to serving our community together.
