Floyd County Commissioners appointed six members to the 2017 Citizens SPLOST committee this week.
Commissioners approved Jeff Chandler with the state Department of Juvenile Justice, Toni Hannah with Georgia Power, entrepreneur Doc Kibler, David Mathis with Georgia Highlands College, Tannika Wester at Darlington School and Ghee Wilson with the Georgia Department of Corrections.
None of the members have ever served on a SPLOST committee before.
They will join Julie Smith, Mike Burnes, Alvin Jackson, Jim Bojo, J.C. Boehm and David Newby who were approved from Rome and Cave Spring.
A SPLOST package is expected to be presented in August if it is to meet the deadline for the November 7 ballot.
If approved the new SPLOST would begin on March 31, 2019.
