Rome City Schools named Tift County boys basketball coach Eric Holland as its new principal Tuesday.

Holland has also served as assistant principal for 12 years, eight at Tift High and four at Turner County Middle School.  He has also served as interim principal at the ninth grade campus of Tift High School..

Holland has served as the head varsity boys’ basketball coach at Tift County since 2009.

While coaching at Tift County, Holland was investigated by the GHSA for recruiting violations, as well as illegal practice violations.  He was found guilty of the later.

Hollands team was the 2016-17 state champions.

Rome High head football coach John Reid coached at Tift County before coming to Rome two years ago.
