The City of Summerville has been named a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation.  The City received the designation last month during Georgia’s Arbor Day celebration at Trees Atlanta.

The Arbor Day Foundation recognizes communities that have made a commitment to effective urban forest management practices through the Tree City USA Program.

The City of Summerville planted numerous trees across from the Summerville Depot during the annual Christmas Festival.

The City will receive their recognition from the Georgia Forestry Service this evening at the Summerville City Council Meeting at 6 PM at Summerville City Hall.

The Town of Trion was recognized last month as a “Tree City USA” by the Georgia Forestry Service and the Arbor Day Foundation.
