Lexi Beard, a senior at Pepperell High School, has been selected to display one of her works of art at the Georgia Capitol as part of the “Art of Georgia” exhibit.  Over 100 entries from artists throughout the Northwest Georgia region submitted artwork to be considered.  Beard’s work will be displayed for six months at the Capitol.
“Downtown Vibe” is the name of Beard’s painting selected for the Capitol exhibit. The work was created during Beard’s participation in the annual Fire Fly Fling of the Rome Area Council for the Arts.  RACA bills the event as an evening of art, music, and food enhanced by twinkling lights and river views.  “I just tried to capture the spirit of the evening with my painting,” Beard said.
The “Art of Georgia” exhibit is cosponsored by the Georgia Council for the Arts and the Office of the Governor. The exhibit celebrates Georgia’s landscapes and people with each work highlighting the unique character of a community.
Beard will deliver her work to the Capitol on April 5.  She will meet Governor Nathan Deal and the First Lady Sandra Deal and be recognized for participation in the “Art of Georgia” exhibit.
