Georgia Northwestern Technical College will close all campuses at 2:00 p.m. today (March 1) due to the threat of severe weather. All evening classes and activities have been canceled.
Update: Rome City Schools announced that they will be dismissing school early at 1:30 today.
UPDATE: Due to possible strong storms this afternoon, Floyd County Schools will dismiss at 1:30 today get students home before issues arise.
Gordon County and Calhoun City Schools announced Wednesday morning that they will be closing school early today as severe storms are expected to roll though the area.
Reports stated that the storms are expected from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and could bring winds of 40 to 60 miles per hour, locally heavy rain and lightning. A small threat of a brief spin-up tornado remains in the forecast.
Gordon County Schools will dismiss at 11:30 am. Calhoun City Schools will release PreK, primary and elementary schools at 11:30 and the middle/high school campus at noon.
