Seven Floyd County students have been selected to display their vocal talents performing with some of the most talented singers in the state at All-State Chorus. Courtney Hutcherson, a seventh-grader at Armuchee Middle; Isabella Warner, an eighth-grader at Coosa Middle; Trisha Dobson, an eighth-grader at Pepperell Middle; Brian Richey, a senior at Armuchee High; Zac Mitchell, a sophomore at Coosa High; Calysta Long, a freshman at Pepperell High; and Max Rampley, a senior at Pepperell have been selected for the honor.
The Georgia Music Educators Association All-State Chorus will be held February 23-25 at the Classic Center in Athens. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, February 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m and again from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday will be a full day of rehearsals beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 9 p.m. with breaks for lunch and dinner. Saturday will feature more rehearsals in the morning and an afternoon filled with performances.
Singers vying for a spot on the All-State Chorus must participate in auditions and are judged on scales, sight-reading, intonation, rhythmic accuracy, vocal tone quality, diction, breath control and appropriate style.
Hutcherson, Warner and Dobson will perform in the Middle School All-State Chorus concert that will be held in the Classic Center Theater beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
