The City of Rome reported a sewage spill in the Armuchee area on Wednesday. According to Jeff Wenzel with the the Rome Water and Sewer Department, 3,500 gallons spilled into an unnamed tributary leading to the Oostanaula River near East Big Indian Trail and the Swan Lake Mobile Home Community.

The spill was reported at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday and the time of the spill correction was at 1 p.m.

Wenzel said that the spill was caused by roots and grease in the sewer main.

The sewer main was thoroughly cleaned and cleanup and removal procedures have begun on the water.
