A two vehicle accident stalled traffic in both directions Wednesday afternoon on Shorter Avenue. Reports stated that a Ford Taurus collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee resulting in it being turned upside down.

Reports stated that 24 year-old Kyle Trammell, of Rome, was driving his Jeep Cherokee westbound on Shorter Avenue when the Ford Taurus, driven by 87 year-old Elizabeth Otts, of Rome, pulled out of the Beech Creek subdivision in front of Trammell.

Police stated that Trammell swerved in an effort to avoid collission, but the SUV clipped the front of her car.  The impact sent the SUV rolling before sopping close to 300 feet after impact.

Trammell was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
