The Rome Braves & Floyd County Police Department Eighth Annual Celebrity Shootout Golf Tournament will take place this Friday at Stonebridge Golf Course.  The tournament is set to begin at 11a.m. and will feature current and former Rome and Atlanta Braves greats.  Among those attending include Rome manager Randy Ingle, former Rome Brave Jordan Edgerton, Atlanta Braves Director of Scouting Brian Bridges, Rome Braves General Manager Mike Dunn, former Atlanta Brave Glenn Hubbard, and former Rome manager Rocket Wheeler.  Fans have the opportunity to meet both of Rome’s Championship Managers (Wheeler ’03 and Ingle ’16) along with Hubbard who played and coached in Atlanta and is currently with the Kansas City Royals organization.


Proceeds benefit the Animal Rescue Foundation of Rome and Floyd County that was created in 2011 to provide vetting, facilitation and spray and neuter service for local abandoned animals. They provide transportation from animal control to the vet as well as treatment and stabilization including surgery and medication.  This annual golf tournament has donated over $75,000 to local and National charities.


Saturday promises to be another exciting day as the Second Annual Sliding into Christmas Wiffle Ball Showcase will take place at the Braves Miracle Field of Rome with gates opening at 11 a.m.  Admission is free.  Proceeds from the event will benefit kids for Christmas providing presents for needy children during the holiday season.


The public is invited to both events.
