According to Michael Skeen, Director of Public Works in Floyd County, all Recycling containers at the shopping center at Division Street and Shorter Avenue (IGA/Rite Aid) have been asked to be moved.  Skeen said that the request has nothing to do with any of the businesses at the location, just the location itself.

Skeen said, “We have worked hard to keep the site neat and orderly.  However, too many issues outside of our control will not allow that to happen.”

The next closest drop off sites are the Rome/Floyd Recycling Center on Watters Street or the Satellite Location on Hicks Driver in the old K-mart shopping center.

Skeen added, “I hope this will not discourage people from recycling – you just may need to drive a little bit farther.  This change has nothing to do with changes to the Center that were discussed recently that will include a public/private partnership.”
