Rome City Schools announced this week that Ashlyn Ritch, a fourth grade teacher at North Heights Elementary School, was its system wide Teacher of the Year.  They also announced that Anna Hobson-Sato, a kindergarten and first grade pararpo at Elm Street Elementary, as the system’s Support Person of the Year.

Ritch has been teaching for 22 years.

Ritch will now represent Rome City Schools at the state teacher of the year competition. The winner will be announced in the spring.

This marks Hobson-Sato’s eighth year as a parapro.

Elm Street is also the home of the Teacher of the Year runner-up,

Court­ney Callaway, a kindergarten teacher at Elm Street was Teacher of the Year runner up.

Other teachers of the year at individual schools are: Danielle Justice, Anna K. Davie Elementary; Eddy Todd, East Central Elementary; Jennifer Underwood, Main Elementary; Eileen Galang, West Central Elementary; Debra Summerville, West End Elementary; Kellie Wolfe, Rome Middle; and David Little at Rome High.

Support employees of the year at each school were: Ishmael Woods at Anna K. Davie; Deana Lankford at East Central; Hobson-Soto at Elm Street; Janice Singleton at Main; Melissa Singleton at North Heights; Amanda Elmore at West Central; Shannon Packard at West End; Brenda LuAllen at Rome Middle; Loree Sheffield at Rome High; Angela Byrne at the central office; and Jimmy Sprayberry in the maintenance department.
