A proposal to move the Rome-Floyd Recycle Center is in place.  The Joint Solid Waste Commission is looking at moving the facility on Waters Street to a location belonging to businessman Ira Levy on Lavender Drive at the site of the former Zartic building.

The proposal would allow Levy to take control of commercial cardboard recycling for both municipalities.

Money was earmarked from the 2013 SPLOST to go toward the recycling center.  The county has close to $1.3 million for the Recycling Center’s improvements.

If the proposal is approved it could be next year before the site is relocated.
