Billy Joe Kelly, 17 of Rome, was arrested on Sunday after he tried to pass fake money at the East Rome McDonalds. Reports stated that Kelly attempted to purchase food with a counterfeit $20 bill when store employees called police.
When police arrived he told them that he had gotten the money from his cousin. He also reportedly told police a fake name and date of birth.
Following his arrest he told officers that he had two other fake $20 bills in his wallet.
Kelly is charged with one count of first-degree forgery, two counts of second-degree forgery, misdemeanor theft by deception and giving a false name and birth date to officers.
