Georgia State Patrol investigators are still trying to determine the exact cause of a fatal accident Sunday afternoon on Highway 156/ Red Bud Road.

Reports stated that a 2000 Buick LeSabre, was headed west driven by Rocky Stone when the car hydroplaned and struck a Ford F-250.

Police said that two children were in the LaSabre when it hydroplaned and spun counter-clockwise into the east bound lane and struck the passenger side of the truck.

The car then left the road and struck an embankment.

Stone was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The two children were transported by ground ambulance to Gordon Hospital, where the younger male was immediately transferred to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. critical condition, and the female passenger was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. in stable condition.

The driver of the Ford was not injured.  A passenger in the Ford was transported to a Rome hospital in stable condition.

The investigation continues this morning.
