The Rome Braves announce the C Tyler Flowers and RHP Arodys Vizcaino have joined the team as part of a major league rehab assignment. Flowers was placed on the Atlanta DL on July 15th with a fractured hand and Vizcaino was added to the disabled list on July 16th with an oblique strain.
Both players are former Rome Braves with Flowers, a native Georgian, playing in Rome in 2007 hitting .298 with 12 HR and 70 RBI. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Vizcaino had two stints in Rome, first in 2010 with a record of 9-4, 2.39 and again in 2015 on a rehab assignment going 0-0, 9.00 in two appearances. He will start for the Rome Braves on Tuesday.
The upcoming three game homestand (8/16-8/18) promises to be exciting. Rome is currently in second place, 4.5 games behind Augusta in the southern division.
