Christopher Lee Wedgeworth, 21 of Summerville,was arrested by Rome Police at a dead end on Leafmore Road over the weekend after he was spotted in a stolen 2003 Honda Pilot.
Reports stated that officers were responding to a call about what appeared to be a drunk man attempting to breaki into numerous vehicles in the early hours Sunday.
Police reported that the found Wedgeworth in the driver’s seat of the SUV with the key in the ignition. They added that while speaking with him they detected the smell of alcohol, and said that Wedgeworth was unable to follow the officer’s directions.
He was arrested and charged with felony theft by taking and entering an automobile with the intent to commit a theft or felony. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
