A Gordon County deputy sheriff on patrol on US Highway 41 between Calhoun and Resaca stopped to check on what appeared to be a stranded motorist Sunday. When the deputy approached the passenger car from Ohio, the driver was unresponsive. The deputy quickly summoned emergency medical personnel who arrived and transported the woman to Gordon Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The body was sent to the State Crime Laboratory in Decatur for a post mortem examination. Detectives do not suspect that foul play was involved in the death of the woman, who was from Ohio, and was in Georgia visiting relatives. The investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.
