The City of Rome has cited Spriggs Construction for cutting off an access road for environmental work along the property of Burwell Creek.  The local construction company cut the road for Contour Environmental, which could also face a fine for encroaching on 1,049 feet of undistributed zone of the creek that flows into the Oostanaula River near Ridge Ferry Park.

Regulations state that no construction activity can be within 25 feet of state waters.

City manager Sammy Rich said, “The Ledbetter group has an option on the partial of land near Burwell Creek. With that they allowed to go in and look at the land by drilling for wells.  However, going in, the Spriggs group got off path and got into a no go zone.”

The group must go in and repair the damage that was done.
