According to Al Hodge, president of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, grading should soon begin on property that could be the site of a major industrial company at the corner of Ga 53 and Ga 140 in northern Floyd County.
Owners of the property, the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority and Development Authority of Floyd County, approved a contract for the work to begin this week.
The winning bidder was Brad Cole Construction of Carrollton. The group will grade 68 acres of the 100-acre tract at a cost of $1,310,608. The group received nine bids.
Funds will come from a 2013 SPLOST package.
Plans are to have the grading completed within the next year.
