The Rome Noon Optimist Club was one of only five local clubs in Georgia designated a ‘Distinguished Club’ by Optimist International for the past club year.

The award recognized outstanding  youth-related programs, community involvement and internal accomplishment.  In addition, the club’s weekly newsletter, “The Optune”, took first place honors in the Georgia District’s annual contest.

Last year’s District Governor Russ Thomas (left) visited Rome to present the awards to Charles Graves, immediate past president;  Noaleen Ingalsbe and Theresa Perry, newsletter editors, and Ken Carpenter, club treasurer.  Not present was Jan Leonard, club secretary.
All five also received Optimist International wrist watches.  The club meets at 11:45 a.m. Mondays at Rome Braves Stadium.
