A two vehicle wreck has left a man in serious condition Thursday. Reports said that A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jamison Peed, 41, of Acworth, collided with a tractor trailer truck on U.S. 27 South at Walker Mountain Road. Just before 7 a.m. Peed was flown to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga.
Police said that the Chevrolet had been parked off the side of southbound U.S. 27 south near the beginning of the right turn lane onto Walker Mountain Road. When he came back onto the road he accelerated into the outside lane and slammed into the rear of a tractor-trailer, which was stopped at the traffic signal.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Kevin Daughtery from Knoxville Tenn., reported that his rear axle of his truck was knocked off from amount of force the collision.
The tractor trailer truck was carrying rock salt and was bound for Tallapoosa.
Police said that charges are pending.
