According to officials in Bartow County, White’s police chief David King and officer Blake Scheff have been suspended with pay. They added that Scheff was the only full time officer in the city and that the department is now being run with one part time officer.
The two were suspended late last month following a joint investigation of the GBI and FBI. Reports said that the White Police Department and White City Hall were being looked at on public corruption allegations.
The investigation was launched back on October 28, 2015 at the request of the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office.
Raids at the offices were conducted on January 21.
The GBI and FBI searched City Hall and the police department on Jan. 21 after extortion allegations was made.
The GBI is still investigating the files removed from the police department’s records at city hall.
