Community members gathered on a cold Wednesday morning in Rome to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new animal control shelter and special operations center. The projects are funding though SPLOST dollars that was by voters in 2013.

The project is on a “Fast track” with completion scheduled for October 16 of this year.

The county has approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price of $844,000 for the first phase of the project which will include site work, some landscaping and other work.

The center is located at 99 North Avenue.
