A fire destroyed a home at 1345 Kingston Highway Tuesday, leaving a Bartow County family looking for a place to stay. Reports said that the fire was close to two miles east of the Floyd-Bartow County line and occurred close to 5 am Tuesday.
The fire completely destroyed the home, but the family, including two children ages 10 and 2, were able to escape without injury.
The Red Cross has already been in assistance with the family with finding them clothing and the creation of a relocation plan.
Officials said that the first call came into Floyd 911 and when dispatch sent a truck to 1345 Kingston Road they found nothing. They added that both Floyd and Bartow County has that same address.
