Adairsville Police Chief Arnold Gillman has resigned his position citing personal reasons. Gillman announced his resignation effectively immediately last week. Assistant Chief Trish Bedford has been appointed interim chief while a search to fill the post is done.

This makes the second abrupt resignation for Adairsville’s top cop over the past 18 months. Last Summer Gillman was sworn in after Robert Jones stepped down citing health reasons.

Gillman worked with the Adairsville Police Department for three years before taking over last July as chief.

He has worked in law enforcement for 18 years, with a stop at the Calhoun Police Department.

Bedford has been with the Adairsville Police Department since September 2013, prior to that she served as a detective with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.
