Rome City Police officers will soon be patrolling four new zones, which will allow them to issue speeding citations to drivers. The new zones were recently approved by the Rome City Commission. Starting at the end of the year city officers will patrol Braves Boulevard, the Armuchee Connector, East Main Street and a new portion of South Broad Street.
On Braves Boulevard, city officers will have the ability to patrol the entire road which begins at the Rome Bypass and ends at the Armuchee Connector. The entire road has a speed limit of 35 miles per hour.
Officers will also be able to ticker speeders on the Armuchee Connector between Old Dalton Road to close to a half-mile north of Three Mile Road. This zone, which was paroled by county police has a speed limit of 45 miles per hour.
The East Main Street zone will be in front of the new Anna K. Davie Elementary School. That zone, a 30 mile per zone limit, will run from 1352 Cave Spring Road to 1124 South Broad Street.
The new South Broad Street zone is an extension of the road and will cover from First Avenue to Black’s Bluff Road with a 25 mile per hour limit.
In order to give speeding ticket citations police departments have to obtain permits from the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
