Five Armuchee Middle eighth-grade students took home awards in three categories during the 4th Annual Northwest Regional Technology Fair last week. More than 300 students in grades 3 through 12 submitted 190 projects this year in the fair held at Georgia Highlands College.
Zainab Waseem and Kasey Barnett were winners in the category of Video Production, Madelynn Judd and Grace Stanley came in first in Internet Applications and Mackenzie Reece was the winner in Digital Photography. The winning Armuchee Middle students will now move on to the next level of competition at the State Technology Fair in Macon.
Thanks to the support of local business sponsors, students were able to compete in 15 different project categories including: audio production, game design, Internet application and robotics. A $250 scholarship was provided to the winner of the Tech Fair logo design competition. Sponsorships also provided prizes to students that competed in Bingo and online trivia throughout the day.
Nine districts competed in the Technology Fair that has doubled in size since last year. Participating districts included: Calhoun City, Dalton Public, Darlington, Floyd County, Gordon County, Haralson County, Rome City, Walker County and Whitfield County.
