The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia has been recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of America as the 2015 best overall Boys & Girls Club program in the state of Georgia. The local organization was selected out of 39 Boys & Girls Club member organizations in the state of Georgia and was recognized for its quality and depth of programs, which currently impact approximately 3,000 youth and teens per year.
The Northwest Georgia organization, which operates two facilities in Rome and one facility in Cedartown, has continued to develop over the past several years with a 60 percent increase in attendance, a 100 percent graduation rate, a year-round feeding program, and increased program quality.
Some of the improved programs include college campus tours throughout the southeast United States, a health and fitness program selected as one of seven Excellence Award winners out of 1,100 Boys & Girls Club organizations in the country, and an advanced robotics program.
The organization operates its robotics program in partnership with the Floyd County College and Career Academy and Georgia Northwestern Technical College, and is currently the only Boys & Girls Club organization operating an advanced robotics program in the state.
“I am very proud of our staff and board of directors for working so hard to make this organization successful to benefit the youth in this community, “said J.R. Davis, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia. “I am also thankful for the support so many people in this community give to our organization and the thousands of members we serve annually, to help them reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
