Former Gordon County Deputy Coroner Christopher Joey Peace was sentenced this week to 20 years in prison, with 10 to serve, after pleading guilty to five counts of armed robbery and one count of wearing a mask to conceal identity. Reports aid that Peace robbed the Calhoun Drug Company on Red Bud Road back in May 2014. Police said that Peace pulled a gun and demanded prescription medication.

Police said that Peace left on foot and used a four-wheeler hidden in the area to escape. They added that Peace had developed a serious back issue, which led to his addiction to pain medication.

After he is released from prison, he will have to serve the remaining 10 years on probation, he will has have to complete drug counseling and will have to pay a $3158 fine.
