The GBI has been called to investigate a possible wrong doing at a Polk County school. Cedartown authorities notified the agency of a possible fraud case at Covenant Christian School. Reports said that Cedartown Police were called to the school after officials found that payroll checks had bounced.
Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome said money was moved back into the account to cover the bounced checks, allowing the staff to get paid.
Newsome said that the police department contacted the GBI to look into the incident and to see if anything criminal had occurred and by whom.
Covenant Christian School, a private institution, uses the Cedartown Boys & Girls Club as its campus during the day.
