The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in by Cedartown police to investigate a shooting that occurred Thursday at the intersection of Jones and Thompson Streets. Reports said that 21 year-old Daniel Leon, of Cedartown, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome that when officials arrived on the scene they found Leon still alive. He added that Leon was rushed to Polk Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Leon’s body will be sent to the crime lab for an autopsy.
Newsome said that no arrest have been made, but investigators are working the case.
