Woodstock Man Drowns in Chattahoochee
The body of 22 year-old Girona L. Pye, of Cherokee County, was recovered after he drowned on Saturday as he attempted to cross the Chattahoochee River. The body was pulled from about 15 feet of water Sunday morning.
Police said that Pye and friends were along the river grilling out and drinking alcohol when he attempted to swim across the river to a spot known as Diving Rock. At that one point, Pye appeared to get tired before going under and never returning.
Foul play is not expected.
