The AJC along with other media outlets have started to question
the campaign of Sen. Preston Smith, R-Rome, who is running
for the state`s Attorney General seat. Reports of his divorce
as well as his `intimate` relationship with a staffer while married
has been released. While not new to those in north west Georgia,
the story could end up costing Smith the job.
The report stated that Smith had an affair with a Berry College
student between 2003 and 2004.
Smith had ran is first campaign for state senate on a `conservative
family values` stance. Since then Smith has stayed away from
talking about Christian and family values, and only spoke on
his conservative voting record.
Smith finished in 2nd place getting him a runoff against Sam Olens in
The August 10 runoff.
