Rome Unemployment Nears 11%

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) is reporting that
the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in metro Rome
rose to 10.9 percent in January, up from a revised 10.4 percent
in December. The rate for Northwest Georgia is much
worse, at 11.6%.
Rome`s unemployment rate is .5% above the state`s all-time
high rate of 10.4%. Nationally, the unemployment rate
is reported at 9.7%
The number of unemployed workers in the area increased to
5,412, up 248 from 5,164 in December.
