Dalton Public Schools Superintendent Jim Hawkins told board members
this week that he may have to cut up to $8 million from its budget
by July 11 or the district may risk running out of money.
Hawkins had said last month that he expected the cuts to be $6 million,
but he is wanting to shoot to the higher number to be safe after
hearing budget projections from the governor`s office were based
on a best-case revenue scenario.
