A redevelopment meeting this week shed light on the future of the location that once housed Kmart on Turner McCall Blvd and Hicks Drive in Rome.
Ledbetter Properties said that developers are looking into demolishing the location and creating 108,000 square feet of new retails space.
The current building has been vacated since the summer of 2016.
According to City Manager Sammy Rich, plans for the location includes “new retailers and restaurants to the Rome market. “
Rich added that there could be a Tax Allocation District placed on the project to aide in funding.
Officials added that the redevelopment could mean the creation of over 400 jobs and $2 million a year in tax revenue.
