Two former Chattooga County law enforcement officers found themselves in jail over the weekend after a Chattooga County Grand Jury indicted the pair for being involved with illegal drugs.

Thirty-six-year-old former Summerville Police Officer Matt Craig and twenty-nine-year-old Kenneth Martin, a former Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy, were both jailed for violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.

The GBI led an investigation into the actions of the two former officers who are accused of being in possession of illegal steroids.  The investigation into the two former cops began when Trion Police were called to a domestic incident with Martin and his wife.  Martin was serving as a School Resource Officer at Chattooga High School and resigned his position.  The GBI investigation determined that Martin and Craig were conspiring together.

In addition to the controlled substance charge, both were charged with giving false statements to the GBI.
