Rome High’s standout back, Jamious Griffin, has been named as a finalist for the Touchdown of Atlanta’s Mr. Georgia Football Award.

The winner of this prestigious award will be announced on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria. Past Mr. Georgia Football winners include Jake Fromm and Justin Fields, both outstanding Georgia high school quarterbacks who now play with the University of Georgia’s Bulldogs.

Players nominated for this award must exhibit a high level of play on the field and show exemplary behavior in their communities.

The Touchdown Club of Atlanta was founded in the fall of 1938. The organization of the club was the result of the efforts of Al Voorhees, Geo. M. Phillips, Ben Sinclair, Forrest Fowler, Fred Moore, Everett Strupper, James P. Cheeves, and Herb Bonner.

The club was founded with the following three objectives as written in 1938:

1. Promoting the best interests of the American game of football.

2. Fostering of good sportsmanship.

3. Social Activities.
