A total of (2) two people were arrested and numerous electronic devices examined during the execution of (2) two search warrants at individual residences within Polk County and (1) one knock and talk.
This proactive operation, was coordinated by the Polk County Police Department Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of other agencies who are members of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and focused on persons who possess and distribute child pornography and those who are sexually exploiting children in other ways using technology and the internet. A total of (14) law enforcement officers from (6) six different law enforcement agencies participated in the operation.
The arrestees, ranged in age from 40 to 52. During the operation, (4) four search warrants were executed and (1) one knock and talk was conducted in Polk County. During those search warrants and knock and talks, numerous digital devices were previewed and (2) two digital devices were seized. Of those devices seized, (1) one was a mobile phone and (1) one was a laptop computer. These investigative actions resulted from both reactive cases such as cybertips received by each ICAC Task Force from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and proactive cases such as peer-to-peer investigations.
The Polk County Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in want to reinforce to those who exploit children that the Polk County Police Department and ICAC Task Force will work together to make an impact in the state and the local communities in which they service. The cooperation among agencies illustrates their level of commitment to detect, arrest, and prosecute child predators. Cooperation is always important in law enforcement, but it is never more important than when we set out to protect children.
