Centre Police recovered a significant amount of Heroin over the weekend with the Assistance from the Wal-Mart Asset Protection Officer.

Corporal Matt Peek said that Centre Police received a call from the store at approximately 11:00 a.m. stating that two white males had stole from the store and then struck the Wal-Mart employee with a shopping cart before fleeing the scene in a black SUV.

Centre PD Officers were close by and Chief Kirk Blankenship and Officer Bobby Winters located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the suspects.

During the stop a subsequent search of the vehicle by Corporal Peek turned up a large amount of suspected Heroin along with Meth and other drug related items also property belonging to Walmart was recovered.

Three suspects were taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center without incident.

26 year old Dustin Dewayne Vinson of Kennesaw, Georgia was charged with Drug Trafficking/ Herion, Theft of Property 1st Degree and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 25 year old Daniel Alan Kinsey of Summerville was charged with Drug Trafficking/Herion, Theft of Property 1st Degree and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and 31year old Rebecca Ann Farren of Rome was charged with Drug Trafficking Herion and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All three remain in the Cherokee County Detention Center with Bond for Vinson and Kinsey set at $80,300 and Bond for Farren set at $75,300.

Corporal Peek said that this is a huge amount of dangerous drugs taken off the streets with just shy of 10 grams being recovered. That’s double the trafficking weight in Alabama which is 4 grams.
