Robert Headrick, 32, of Rome was arrested this week for hitting another in the presence of a child.
According to police, Headrick hit the 34-year-old female victim in the mouth, slapped her, grabbed her by the throat and then dragged her by the hair.
When officers arrived, the victim had swelling on her lip, scratches on her arm, and was covered in dirt.
The altercation was witnessed by a two-year-old who was present. Headrick and the victim are the parents of said child.
Headrick is charged with third-degree cruelty to children and simple battery.
