A 73 year-old Cedartown woman, Evelyn D Nowell, was arested Monday in Bartow County charged and with vehicular homicide after police said she caused a wreck while DUI,
According to reports, Nowell stopped her vehicle in the roadway of I75 at Groovers Landing causing another vehicle to stop behind her. The vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer, one person died in the crash and another is in the hospital. The victim was identified as 56 year-old Bobbie Whitman of Emerson, who was a passenger in the car. An 8 year-old in Whitman’s car, as well as the driver of the tractor-trailer, were not injured.
She is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, first-degree homicide by vehicle and improper stopping in roadway.
