A Rome man wanted for attempting to kill a woman with a machete, Clifford Whatley, has been captured in Houston, Texas.
Reports said that he will be extradicted back to Floyd County.
On August 22, 2018 at 10:09pm officers responded to Riverwood Apartment complex at 525 W 13th St to the report of a female being stabbed. When officers arrived they found the victim had been attacked with a machete by her boyfriend, Clifford Fredrick Whatley (DOB 10/10/87, Height 6ft Weight 200lbs)
The victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment and eventually flown to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for emergency surgery.
An Aggravated Battery warrant was taken for Whatley. He may possibly be driving the victims 2006 gold Ford Taurus. At this time Whatley is not in custody.
