Deaundre Martel Wade, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he stole a woman’s cellphone who was attempting to call 911 for help. Police added that during the altercation Wade hit the woman in the head, causing her to sustain a red knot on her forehead, as well as a knot on the back of her head.
Reports said that Wade stole the 44 year-old woman’s cellphone from a home on Heard Street during a dispute.
He was later taken into custody at his home on Dodd Blvdd with where he was founmd with swelling on his knuckles where he allegedly beat her.
Wade is charged with theft by taking, battery, obstructing a person making a 911 call and probation violation.
