Additional charges are pending after a man severely beaten last week at a motel on Martha Berry Boulevard  died. Reports said that Joseph Richard Dye passed away Friday after suffering blunt force trauma to the head.

Dye’s body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

John Robert Mostiller, 38, was arrested Friday in connection with the beating.

John Robert Mostiller, 38 of Rome, was captured at the Royal Inn on Martha Berry Blvd after nearly a week long search for an attack a man that left him with serious head injuries.

Reports said that Mostiller not only attacked the man, but also hit a woman in her eye, causing it to split open.

Mostiller is charged with aggravated battery, battery, probation violation and failure to appear.

A Rome man was transported to Floyd MEdical Center Wednesday after being found unconscious at his home at 2534 Shorter Avenue.  Reports said that Joseph Richard Dye suffered serious head injuries after some sort of alatercation.

The Rome Police Department Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation into the circumstances which led to the injuries suffered by Mr. Dye.

The investigation discovered the injuries to Mr. Dye were intentionally inflicted at 1201 Martha Berry Boulevard, The Royal Inn.  Warrants charging John Robert Mostiller with Aggravated Battery have been issued in reference to Mr. Dye’s injuries.  Anyone with information as to Mr. Mostillers location is asked to call 911.
