Ryan Keith Easterwood, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he used profanity while floating down the Etowah River near East 4th Avenue.   Police stated that Easterwood floated to the riverbank after a bystander made a comment about his vulgar language and proceeded to push a small child and attack two men.

Reports said that Easterwood hit two adults with a tree limb, one in the face and the other in the back.

Authorities added that Easterwood got back into the river so that police could not capture him. As a result, fire fighters were dispatched and utilized a rescue boat to take him into custody.

Easterwood is charged with three counts battery, reckless conduct, cruelty to children, public drunk, disorderly conduct, obstruction of law enforcement and parole violation.
