The Floyd County Commission approved the appointment of Major Tom Ewing to Assistant Chief of Police.

The move comes after Chief Mark Wallace was promoted from the position in December.

Ewing, a 31-year veteran of the force was a found member of the bomb squad and the former head of the SWAT.
